Casablanca (Sierra Oaks)

food: 4/5
experience: 2/5
overall: 3/5

Unfortunately Casablanca is in talks of closing thanks to the COVID closures. Very sad. This restaurant has been here 27 years but they could not survive when everything went to take-out only. Thanks, government. I've only been here once but I'll review anyway.

So, my first experience with Casablanca was not the greatest, admittedly.

I ordered takeout on the phone. Couscous with lamb. The guy, well it sounded like he said $7.31. Turns out that was seven-teen. For couscous? Couscous is worth like thirteen cents. Lamb maybe but there was five ounces tops.

It was my first time in like fifteen years I tried lamb and theirs is as good as I remember mom making it. Not $17.31 good, mimd you. $18.31 including tip since I had to awkwardly sign the receipt as he stood right over me. Not cool, dude. Not, cool. He was nice, and threw in a free soup (think he does this for all first timers to get them back). It was nothing special.

The problem with places like Moroccan, Ethiopian, etc. is they know they have the market cornered so they end up charging outrageous amounts for food that's actually a lot cheaper to make than other restaurants that use fresh produce and stuff. So instead of paying thirteen bucks for a meal worth say, $3.50, you pay almost twenty bucks for a meal worth about a dollar.
