Ettore's (Sierra Oaks): Brunch Edition

food: 4/5
experience: 4/5
overall: 4/5

Ettore's is Sacramento's most well-known, most beloved bakery. You may have seen my post about all their delicious baked products. They also serve brunch on Sundays. It's a small but simple menu and it works. They serve until 2pm and it doesn't get too crowded on Sundays, thankfully. I guess everyone goes to midtown for their brunch fix. Ettore's brunch isn't widely publicized.

Cinnamon roll French toast: 5/5
They take their cinnamon rolls and they make French toast out of them. What more could you ask? These are little croissant rolls covered in batter and made soggy (in the best way), topped with chocolate, banana, whip, and pecans. This was the daily special but they have them all the time with different toppings. This was the day I confirmed I am allergic to pecans/walnuts. Ugh.

Pancakes: 3.5/5
Simple pancakes. We got the kid's size which is two medium-small pancakes with whip and strawberries. They're decent, with a strong buttermilk flavor. Definitely not the best I've had though.

Quiche: 4/5
Quiche is rarely bad and theirs is not. It's just eggs with cheese but this particular one has bacon and sausage (or chorizo?) in it. Not too much in there though. The crust is flaky and dense. Pretty basic. Comes with fruit and a plain pile of lettuce with no dressing. O...kay...

Waffles: 3/5
We must have gone about four times before we finally got to try these. They sell out quick. Womp womp. Not good. They're very crispy and the batter just isn't that delicious. You could make just as good ones at home, if not better. The strawberry sauce on the side was good at least...

Breakfast burrito: 5/5
The perfect size, not too big not too small. They cover it with a red enchilada-type sauce and cheddar cheese shreds, and the interior has an excellent egg-to-chorizo ratio scramble as well as their breakfast potatoes (simple red potatoes and red peppers) and more cheese. The sausage is tasty. Even the black beans on the side are good.

Ettore's often gives out free pastries to the brunch crowd when they have leftovers. About half of the times we've been we've gotten these. They change every time.
