Four Sisters Cafe (Roseville): Brunch Edition

food: 4/5
experience: 5/5
overall: 4.5/5

Who knew such a popular brunch spot was hidden way out in Roseville. Expect a half hour wait on Sundays if you come in the afternoon. After-church crowd and all. We tried the pancakes, biscuits, French toast, waffle, and breakfast quesadilla. A.k.a. all the good shit.

Fruit pancakes: 5/5
Better than Bacon & Butter. Nice and thick and flavorful. Comes with a mountain of whipped cream, good thing we asked for it on the side. Whipped cream tastes like ice cream pretty much. The pancakes are huge too. The whole dish easily feeds two small-to-medium-sized persons. They put blueberries in the batter too. They also have "mancakes" which have bacon in the batter. How anti-feminist of them.

Biscuit: 4/5
Pretty good but tastes standard. If they made it more flour-y it would be a 5/5. I dunno could have a bit more flavor I guess but still, very good and great texture, not too buttery but moist. Comes with jam but eh. No comment it's jam.

Waffle: 4/5
Definitely better than Bacon & Butter but honestly it reminds me of the ones I make at home with Bisquick. I didn't try the famous Paradise waffle (comes with macadamias and coconut). I know it would've been a 5/5 but it just seemed like too much going on and I just wanted a plain waffle.

Regular French toast: 3/5
Kinda chewy. It's pretty basic.  The slices are big but the flavor is meh. The powdered sugar helps a bit but it just kinda tastes like moist bread other than that. They have Mango French toast too which is a battered croissant stuffed with cream cheese but neither of us were particularly interested in that concept. Super fattening too.

Veggie quesadilla: 4.5/5
Spinach tortilla holding plenty of cheese, eggs, sautéed veggies (zucchini and mushrooms), and I added in some Portuguese linguiça. The flavor combo was great and as mentioned, contained a healthy serving of cheese as well as eggs. The linguiça wasn't too prominent but what I did taste of it was delicious. They work with L&L BBQ next door to source their linguiça and it's actually from Hawaii. The salsa that comes with is nice and spicy too. Similar to the quesadilla, they have regular breakfast burritos which have meat in them along with avocado, eggs, cheese, and pico de gallo, plus toppings. They're not in a spinach tortilla though, and they don't have all the healthy veggiez. Because quesadillas are totally healthy anyway. I got breakfast potatoes on the side but these are just regular old red potatoes. Nothing to see here.

They serve Gouvea sausage here which comes straight from Hawaii but is actually Portuguese. I didn't try it but it's very popular apparently. Other specialty breakfast items include omelettes, eggs benedict, oatmeal creme brûlée, chicken fried steak, corned beef hash, and breakfast sandwiches.

Service here has always been excellent and they've taken good care of my food allergies. Beware if you feast outside the flies will try to join you. It's a nice patio but yeah. I dunno it's good but it's not nearly good enough to drive all the way out of town for. As for the top brunch spot in the wider Sac area I'm still partial to Bacon & Butter's selection. Yes I know, I'm a sell-out.
