HeavenLy's Yogurt (East Sacramento)

food: 4.5/5
experience: 3/5
overall: 4/5

Heaven-Ly's Yogurt. Emphasis on Ly, for some reason. Greenhaven's yo-go-to spot for froyo, with another locashe in East Sac. I've been here many times due to the convenience factor.

Yes, it freaking melts. And fast. The yogurt in the base of the machine is not as cold as the rest of the supply, so when you push the lever what you're getting is the least frozen yogurt on hand. I told the cashier this one time and she told me next time to kindly let her know what flavor I wanted ahead of time so she could "prepare the machine" (how?).

Flavors are alright, basic. Sometimes I judge yogurt shops on the caliber of their plain/tart-flavored yogurt and theirs is fine. But it 's half liquid AaaRGgggHh! And then you factor in the time putting on the toppings, weighing it, finding a seat outside, blah-ty-blah - don't even think about saving it until you drive home, it's soup.

They do have lots of different fruit toppings which I like, as well as a ton of other options in slightly awkward bins. Their topping selection is mad decent.

Mini mint cookies anyone? How about your favorite cereal?

They also feature that chocolate sauce that freezes instantly on impact, along with other classic toppings like nuts, M&Ms, pretzels, shredded coconut, crushed waffle cones... you get the idea.

The owners come up with some pretty questionable combination choices though. Seriously? I mean...

Passion orange guava and pumpkin. Come now. Tsk tsk.

Speaking of pumpkin, one thing I don't like about this place is that in the fall, when they do get pumpkin yogurt, they run out of it very fast - much faster than the fall/winter season ends. And they don't think to buy more of it. This is simply poor planning. Pumpkin yogurt in the fall in Sacramento is a prize to behold and if you're not keeping that stuff in stock, shame on you. If you do see it, snag it immediately because it is some of the best pumpkin yogurt you'll ever lay your hands on.

Mmmm. Pumpkin.
